A guided shore
excursion to walk through the jungle at the Komodo island conjures
up a unique experience and let you to think of a mystery and myth
from a life of the pre-historic lizard "Komodo dragon".
The ship will anchor off Komodo island - a home of the last
pre-historic lizards, which gives the island its name. The
dinosaur-like lizards are believed to date from the Jurassic Age
and were thought to be extinct until discovered in 1912.
Adults often reach a length of 3 meters and weight 140kg, and
their sharp, saw like teeth can snap a goat in half. Their stomach
juices are so strong that they can digest bones and hair. Oddly
enough, they are stone deaf.
In groups of about
30 people, experienced park ranger conduct you on a guided walk to
the Komodo watching ground, a steep ravine and watering hole where
some of the dragons come to rest and finding their feed. During a
45 minutes walk to Banunggulung watching ground, you will have a
chance to observe wildlife, bird life and nesting holes of the
Komodo dragons. Comfortable clothing and walking shoes should be
worn as temperature range between 27 - 35 degrees, and humidity
from 81 - 92%. Don't forget a hat and sunscreen. Duration about 3
- 4 hours
Pink Beach -
after the morning walk, you can enjoy the beautiful pink beach
where particles of red coral wash ashore mixing with the white
sand to cast a majestic pink hue. This is the perfect place to
relax, work on your tan, watch the magnificent scenery or snorkel
and dive to explore Komodo's rich coral formations in colors of
purple, yellow, blue and fushsia.
Dive Komodo
Diving in the Komodo National Park area is amongst the most
exciting in the world. The area offers every imaginable type of
diving, from current swept sea mounds patrolled by sharks, tune
and other pelagic fish to the dead calm colorful reefs inhabits by
thousands of fish and beautiful soft and hard corals. The
underwater topography varies as much from sheer walls, caves,
